The beauty of this piece is that it reads from a distance as an elegant silhouette. Only when someone walks toward it do they discover the thousands of tiny carved marks.
Thrown on the wheel in white stoneware before being meticulously hand-pressed, each individual impression by hand, creating a quiet rhythm that wraps the vessel. Layers of black underglaze and matte black glaze soften the surface while allowing the lighter clay beneath to emerge as a field of subtle light. The result is a vessel that changes with movement and shadow, revealing new patterns as it is walked around.
