CODEX
A hand-carved ikebana vessel exploring geometry through light, shadow and surface.

Codex is an exploration of carved geometry. Repeating forms are cut into the surface by hand, creating a quiet rhythm that shifts with changing light and viewpoint. Rather than decorating the vessel, the carving becomes part of its structure, giving the surface depth, texture and movement.
Made in stoneware and finished with a deep metallic glaze, the reflective surface catches light across the carved relief, revealing new relationships throughout the day. Concealed internal cylinders support ikebana arrangements with precision, allowing branches and stems to emerge naturally from within the form.
The piece balances restraint with detail, inviting close observation without demanding explanation.
